Elf on the Shelf
December 6, 2013Elf on the Shelf is a popular Christmas tradition for many families. The basis of the story is that special elf has been sent by Santa to help monitor children on the nice and naughty list. The elf normally shows up around Thanksgiving or at the beginning of December and stays until Christmas Eve, then flying back to the North Pole to report to Santa. But don’t worry … once your family adopts an elf, they’ll be back every year to check in on you.
The tradition of Elf on the Shelf began with a lady that wanted to satisfy her children’s curiosity about Santa knowing if they were nice or naughty. Our Elf on the Shelf comes with the book and a keepsake box with an elf inside, ready to place anywhere you choose.
Once you adopt your elf the fun begins! Name your family’s elf and each night move it to a new location to keep the magic alive. Have fun and be creative! Your elf can be mischievous and re-decorate your Christmas tree with toilet paper or remove all the ornaments. Or while the family is asleep play with the kiddos toys and leave them scattered about. Your elf can be sweet and leave little homemade gifts for the kiddos. Or bake them their favorite treat overnight. You just never know mischief your elf may get into. Something must keep your elf occupied all those long hours that he, or she, is keeping an eye on you!
If your children race out of bed to see what your family’s elf has been up to overnight … you’re doing it right!
Share photos on our Facebook page of what your elf has been up to!
